This is one of the most beautiful, but hauntingly sad songs in Christmas I have ever heard. It was originally written about the Massacre of the Innocents when Herod the King killed all the first born males in efforts to kill the True King. The melody was written based off of the lamenting wails of mothers who lost their children. To me, it reminds me of the miracle of the Lord's birth and also to remember those who have lost someone through no fault of their own. This song I felt, would be best sung by a young girl. Thank you again to Ruby Bagley for singing on this.
